Storm or coastal flooding in the house

Water in a basement or ground-floor apartment from a storm surge, heavy rain or a backed-up street sewer. Once the water is out, the clock starts on mold and structural damage. We dry, clean and rebuild.

Overview

Flood Restoration, done right

Water does its worst damage after the flood is over. It soaks into subfloors, climbs drywall, sits behind baseboards and grows mold inside wall cavities you cannot see. Flood restoration is the work of stopping that clock: getting the water out, drying the structure all the way through, and rebuilding what cannot be saved.

In New York that usually means a basement or a basement apartment. A burst supply line, a failed water heater, a sewer backup during a heavy rain, or storm water coming through a bulkhead door in a coastal flood zone. Attached rowhouses share walls, so water in one house can show up next door. We treat every job as time-sensitive.

Empire Pro NY handles the whole chain. We pump, dry, remove damaged material, treat for mold, then bring in our own plumbers, electricians, carpenters and painters to rebuild. One call, one team, one point of contact, serving Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and the Bronx.

What we fix

  • Flooded basements and cellars

Standing water from storms, groundwater, failed sump pumps or burst pipes. We remove it and dry the slab, walls and framing.

  • Sewer backup cleanup

Backups from clay laterals and overloaded city sewers leave contaminated water behind. We extract, sanitize and dispose of affected material safely.

  • Burst pipe and appliance leaks

Supply lines, water heaters, washing machine hoses and radiator valves. We stop the source, then dry everything the water touched.

  • Wet drywall, insulation and flooring

Materials that hold water rarely dry on their own. We cut out what is ruined and save what can be dried in place.

  • Mold after a flood

Damp wall cavities grow mold fast. We dry to verified moisture levels and treat framing before anything gets closed back up. Larger mold jobs fall under New York State mold licensing rules, and we tell you when that applies.

  • Storm and coastal flooding

Low-lying blocks in Staten Island, Brooklyn and Queens take on water during coastal storms. We clean up and recommend changes that help next time.

Questions people ask

What should I do before you arrive?

If it is safe, shut off the water at the main valve and turn off power to the flooded area at the panel. Do not walk through water that may be touching outlets or cords. Move what you can to higher ground.

How much does flood restoration cost?

It depends on how much water, what it touched and how long it sat. We price after we see it and estimates are free. You get a written scope before any work beyond emergency extraction.

Will my insurance cover this?

Many homeowner policies cover sudden water damage like burst pipes, while storm and groundwater flooding often fall under separate flood insurance. We document everything and work with your adjuster.

Do you handle sewer backups?

Yes. Sewage cleanup is a health matter and we treat it that way, with protective gear, sanitizing and proper disposal. We also clear or repair the drain that caused it.

Can you fix the cause so it does not happen again?

That is the point of using one company. We can install sump pumps and backwater valves, waterproof the basement or replace the failed pipe while we are already there.
