Standing water that needs to go now
A basement with inches or feet of water from a failed sump, a broken main or a storm. We bring pumps and extraction equipment, remove the water and get to the source.
Overview
Flood Pumping & Water Removal, done right
Standing water is an emergency, not a chore. Every hour it sits, it soaks deeper into the slab, the framing and anything stored on the floor. Flood pumping is the first move: get the water out now, then figure out where it came from and dry what is left.
New York basements flood for a lot of reasons. Heavy rain overwhelms the city sewer and pushes water back up through floor drains. Groundwater rises after a storm. A sump pump fails during the one night it is needed. In coastal parts of Staten Island, Brooklyn and Queens, tidal surge comes in through bulkheads and window wells. Basement apartments are hit hardest because people live there.
Empire Pro NY pumps out basements, cellars, crawl spaces, garages and yards across all five boroughs, 24/7. We arrive with trash pumps for deep water, extractors for the last inch, and dehumidifiers to begin drying. And because we are a full-service contractor, the same call can fix the drain, pipe or pump that caused it.
What we fix
Deep water in basements and cellars
From ankle-deep to waist-deep. We pump it out and extract what the pumps leave behind.
Sewer backups through floor drains
When the city main surcharges in a storm, water comes up instead of going down. We remove it, sanitize and talk about a backwater valve.
Failed sump pumps
A dead pump, a stuck float or a lost power supply. We pump the pit, replace the unit and add a battery backup if you want one.
Burst pipes and water heater failures
We shut the source, remove the water and repair the plumbing. One team, one call.
Groundwater seepage
Water through the cove joint, foundation cracks or the slab after rain. Pumping first, then a plan to keep it out.
Storm surge and coastal flooding
Salt water and debris in low-lying blocks. We pump, flush and dry so the rebuild begins on a clean slab.

How it works
- Call 24/7Tell us how deep the water is and whether it is still rising. We tell you what to switch off and what to stay away from.
- Pump outWe set pumps and run discharge lines to a safe outlet, then switch to extractors for the water that pumps cannot reach.
- Find the sourceSewer, groundwater, plumbing or weather. We trace it before we leave so you know what to fix.

Why Empire Pro NY
Fast, any hour
Basements flood at midnight during the storm, not at noon on a Tuesday. We answer 24/7 and roll with the equipment on the truck.
We fix the cause, not just the symptom
Our plumbers and drain crews are the same company. The pipe, drain or pump that failed gets repaired under the same job.
Licensed and insured
Pumping around live electrical and gas equipment is not a job for a rented pump. Our crews are licensed and insured.
Free estimates for everything after the emergency
Once the water is out, we give you a written estimate for drying, restoration or waterproofing. No obligation.
Questions people ask
Is it safe to go into my flooded basement?
Not until the power to that area is off. Water touching outlets, cords, the boiler or the panel can be deadly. If you cannot reach the panel safely, stay out and call us.
How much does flood pumping cost?
It depends on depth, what is in the water and access. Estimates are free, and we quote once we have seen the water. You know the cost before pumps go in.
Can you pump out sewage?
Yes. Sewer backups are treated as contaminated water. We pump, remove affected material, sanitize and clear the drain that caused it.
My sump pump died. Can you replace it while you are here?
Often, yes. We carry common pump sizes and can add a battery backup so the next outage does not flood you again.
What is a backwater valve and do I need one?
It is a one-way valve on your sewer line that stops city sewage from flowing back into your basement during a storm. If you have had a backup, it is worth a conversation.
